Sharakah (Youth Fund) supported the Intillaqah Awards 2009 for Supporting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award (recognizes successful Entrepreneurs) by providing sponsorship as part of Sharakah’s objectives. The Company Layali Al Asalah had won the award and the awards presentation ceremony was held on 9th November 2009 to recognize and congratulate the winning entrepreneurs.

The company runs into the fashion designing and these young entrepreneurs won in various competitions organized in Oman.

Sharakah – Fund for Development of Youth Projects (S.A.O.C.) has taken part in the community service support for 6 trainees recently in collaboration with AMIDEAST for the Dutch Embassy funded program.

The trainees were explained the functioning of the Fund and were given exposure to the day to day working. It helped them in having hands on experience which will be useful in their life.

The Fund’s participation was aimed as part of the objective set for the Fund to the community to support young entrepreneurs.

Sharakah (Youth Fund) recently supported Salim Nasser Khamis ALMawely for technology upgradation and expansion of his block factory through the Fund’s new funding scheme to encourage Omani entrepreneurs as part of Sharakah’s objectives. The block factory is located in ALBatinah-Suwaiq.

Mr. Dinkar Kishor, Assistant General Manager (Operations) of of Sharakah confirmed, “We supported 7 projects in 2008 and few projects already completed the construction and will be operational soon. The Fund will support the following sectors mainly: Hospitality industry ( Restaurants, Coffee shops, motels), Leisure & Entertainment, Down stream manufacturers, Information Technology,Education and training,Support Services to construction industry, tourism etc.

Sharakah – Fund for Development of Youth Projects (S.A.O.C.) has taken part in the 11th Annual Careers Fair of Caledonian College of Engineering which was inaugurated on 26th April 09 by H. E. Sayyid Hamad Bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Labour Under Secretary, Ministry of Manpower.

During the fair The Fund promoted the profile to a large number of students and visitors. The Fund also explained the financial assistance scheme and other benefits in more detail to the qualifying young Omani graduates who are interested to establish their own business as part of Fund’s objectives.

The website (www.youthfund.com.om) of Sharakah – Fund for Development of Youth Projects (S.A.O.C.) has won the prestigious Oman Web Awards in the category for Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) or Non Profit Organisation (NPO) at last week’s prize distribution ceremony.

Mr. Hani M. Al Zubair, Chairman of the Youth Fund received the Bronze award on behalf of the Fund in the glittering event held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The Youth Fund website was revamped and redesigned recently, which appears to be more attractive and user friendly with all relevant information useful to existing and potential SMEs.

The Youth Fund website has also been nominated for the Pan Arab Web Awards competition which will take place at Burj Al Arab Hotel on April 25, 2009.

Sharakah (Youth Fund) supported last year Jassim Darwish Hassan ALMaamary for lab supplying chemicals project through the bill discounting scheme as part of its objectives. This project financing was very successful and the Fund has realized its payments as per the agreement between the Fund and the Promoter. The limit is available for reuse.

Sharakah is ready to assist the entrepreneurs to have achievements in their projects through guidance, advise and proper follow up etc. At Sharakah, we are committed to support Omani entrepreneurs who have demonstrated skill, passion and business acumen in establishing and growing their businesses.

Sharakah (Youth Fund) recently extended its support to Said Al Shahry Legal Training Center LLC to 1st legal training institute in Oman which provides professional legal training to freshers as well as professionals. Said Al Shahry Law office has highly experienced Senior Omani and foreign lawyers with extensive local and international expertise.

Asked about the support and services of Sharakah, Said Al Shahry responded: “We were pleased to work with Sharakah in developing our business and moving forward. Sharakah really supported us to achieve our milestone for the success opening this institution”.

Zuweina Al Badai, Project Officer of Sharakah said, “We are delighted to support training centres, as their business continues to grow and Omani students can train properly for their career growth in order to start their own businesses which will help them for a successful entrepreneur”. Recently Sharakah also facilitated services repeatedly to their existing entrepreneurs for various services.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Sharakah (Youth Fund) and Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) at KOM Offices on 26th January 2009 to assist both organizations through their various activities.

The MOU was signed on behalf of KOM by Mr Hilal Bin Hamed Al Ahsani, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Said Salim Al Sahib, Vice Chairman of the Youth Fund signed on behalf of the Fund.

The FDYP will support Omani Entrepreneurs in TKM by providing funding services, evaluating their new projects including guidance to business plan and operational aspects etc. The Fund also provide to KOM tenants different topics of workshops related to business.

The KOM will support and create awareness of the Fund through their medias and the programmes conducting as per their calendar activities scheduled for the year. The Vice Chairman expressed his thanks and gratitude to KOM for supporting the Fund
